Some illustrations showing excavations carried out by Gotland Archaeological Field School between 1998 and 2011. The period between 1998-2005 saw an extensive excavation of one of the most important Viking Port of trade on Gotland. The area covered some 10 ha, and around it, and also inside, there are 3 cemeteries, one of them with Christian burials.
The other main focus has been on Viking Age and Early Middle Ages farmsteads and land use. Coming summer (2012) we will excavate part of the abandoned farm Fjäle, and we will follow it up by presenting material under way at this page, both photos and films.
